Default PvP Reward.

I've long been an advocate of the seperation of PVP-only play from the Roleplaying game. I firmly believe that each style of game draws players who will never agree on what is an enjoyable experience. There is an adversarial feel between those two crowds that is nothing short of rediculous. On the riverside forums I saw a player post about how he belived that the game was going to slight the Roleplaying side of the game and focus entirely on the PVP and aside from just stating his belief he was making it some kind of schoolground neener-neener thing... sad.

I'm not saying there arent moderates who can enjoy both. What I am saying, is that those who do pvp only and cant give a lick for the Roleplay game are not going to be happy untill they get unlock all skills. I say thats fine, give them thier skills, and then remove them from my roleplay game, give them thier own pvp only servers and let them have the same repetitive fights over and over and over if thats what gets them off. That way they arent constantly undermining the Roleplay game. Then switch the contest for favor so that its contested by RP characters only. This is appropriate because its not like the PVP only crowd give a rats ass about goin to uw/fow, and if PVPonly gets UAS, it will further exascerbate the advantage that a pvponly character has over a RP character in competitive play due to the fact that the pvponly has no value as a character and is much more flexible due to insta-reroll-rebuild.

But.. If we're going to take fighting for favor away from pvponly, as we should. What would the pvponly crowd like to see as reward for stellar pvp performance??

I'm askin yall what you would rather fight over than favor. Perhaps the top performers get a custom title tagged to thier characters, or perhaps like the tour de france's yellow jersey they get custom looking armor or maybe they get some webspace devoted to them on the guildwars page for a while, with character/build discriptions and the chance to post up a paragraph or two about whatever they want (within in the context of the game) or maybe every so often really great performances, like at a tournament or something, can get a custom in game item created in thier name Elistans Rightous Maul of "insert whatever here", something that not only they can wield, but would be added to the rare drop table in pve so that thier fame would live on... of course, they'd have to have a name other than OMGHAXORRSROXORSMYSOXORS for that to be appropriate.

This is a brainstorming session, so go nuts, if PVPonly were fully seperated, had UAS, No grind, and no longer contested favor, what kind of reward would you guys want??

None. I'd rather PvP be about playing for fun rather than playing to boost meaningless stats, e-penis, or bank account. Maybe then people would drop the "OH YOU BITCH FAGS DICKS" attitude when they lose.

I love the idea of the personalized armor/tag. I think the current /fame thing is pretty cool and that would be even cooler and more prestigious. When I see someone running around sporting that disembodied head I know they know how to play the game very well. Seeing someone with completely unique armor tags would be more permanent and I think it would be a more tangible reward than gaining favor. Maybe the tags could be like medals showing rank or accomplishments (ie. winning the HoH x number of times, having x number of consecutive flawless wins in team arena, guild rank, etc).

Mumblyfish, I have seen a few of your posts and you seem like a very intelligent individual; however I have never seen you post anything positive ever. You never make erroneous flames but it seems like you are overly cynical...just pointing something out in case you didn't realize how you were coming off, not trying to flame or anything.

lol so have fun... having rewards for others who would like to have something to replace favor doesnt make anything less fun... unless of course you cant handle having kids talk mean to you, Rofl.

I agree that winning in itself is its own reward.

The only time other rewards should ever come into play is if players agree to put something on the line.
And even then, that something should be fun to have but not a status symbol.

If there was UAX (x = all), PvP would be a lot better. It doesn't need rewards, really. For PvE rewards (since their bullshit unlocks would be gone), just give them whatever the hell they want. Super duper über items - just make sure they can't be used in PvP. More areas (like the rest of the god's areas, I'd expect).

Then to continue on to fixing PvP...

Remove all defensive and ganking maps. What does that mean? Fix Burial Mounds, and then remove all the King of the Hill maps. Those are endlessly annoying. This includes the Hall of Heroes. Then removal the killing guild lord = victory thing because it spawns ganking.

Noooo don't remove King of The Hill maps .Ok maybe Burial Mounds lol, that seems to be the most annoying map of all.And whats the ghostly hero = victory? It only gives morale and if you go for enemy ghost first then the monks simply heal him while they beat on your team ; ).

EDIT:You edited your post .The guild lord = victory is MUCH more fun it keeps you on the edge rather than just kill other team to win kind of thing.
